The Chib Rajputs are a proud, family-minded clan of Azad Kashmir and the northern Punjab: Muslims by faith and Rajputs by descent. Our heritage is rooted in valour, honour and service, and every Chib, young or old, has a part in preserving it.

Our shajra traces the family from Rajanaka Bhumi Chandra, first of the Katoch rajas of Kangra, to Raja Megh Chand (Megh Chandra II), whose son Raja Partab Chand founded Bhimber, the historic gateway to Kashmir, around 1400. Partab Chand's son, Raja Chib Chand, gave the clan its name. Six generations later Raja Shadab Khan, also called Sandeep Chand or Raja Dharam Chand, embraced Islam; he is revered today as Baba Shadi Shaheed. The independent rule of the Chib rajas ended with Raja Sultan Khan, the last ruler of Bhimber, in the nineteenth century, while the Chibs of Malot descend from Darya Khan, son of Raja Madan Khan and jagirdar of Ali Malot.
